Clark Franz, 73, and Linda (nee Richardson) Franz, 67, of Mormon Lake, died unexpectedly Friday, Dec. 24, 2010.
Linda was born Dec. 18, 1943, in Muscatine, Iowa. She worked for the Redlands Unified School District for 22 years where she retired in 2003. She moved to Mormon Lake and met and married Clark Franz on Aug. 30, 2003. She was a volunteer for the Mormon Lake Fire Station and very involved with her community. Linda spent the last several years traveling, visiting friends and family.
Linda is survived by her son, Timothy Richardson (Johnna) of Redlands, Calif.; daughter Tammy Perry (Keith); stepsons Chris of Gilbert and Jon of Chicago; three granddaughters; two grandsons; and three brothers, Mike Rehbehn of Rancho Mirage, Calif., Richard Rehbehn of Grand Terrace, Calif., and Dave Rehbehn of Turner, Ore.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Vi Rehbehn.
Clark was born Dec. 30, 1936, in Rock Valley, Iowa. He received his Ph.D. from Northern Arizona University and taught from 1972-1995 at Rock Valley Junior College in Rockford, Ill. He retired and moved to Mormon Lake. He worked with the U.S. Forest Service and as a volunteer at the Tonto National Monument and with the Mormon Lake Fire Station.
Clark married Linda Richardson in Mormon Lake on Aug. 30, 2003. They spent the last seven years together taking trips, visiting friends and family, and loving one another. They recently bought a home in Galena, Ill., and spent half their time there.
Clark is survived by his stepmother Phyllis Franz of Chilton, Wis.; sister Sharon Fortnum of Berlin, Wis.; sons Chris (Robin) of Gilbert, and Jon (Kati) of Chicago; stepson Tim Richardson of Redlands, Calif.; stepdaughter Tammy Perry; two grandsons; and three step-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Norbert and Ethel Franz; sister Marcy Buchholtz; and son Timothy.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Hozhoni Foundation, in Flagstaff, or the Morman Lake Fire Department.
A memorial service will be Saturday, Jan. 8, at 2 p.m. at Federated Community Church in Flagstaff. An additional memorial service will be Saturday, Jan. 15, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Redlands in Redlands, Calif.
