BONES, Sarah Elizabeth (Betty)

The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ April 7, 2008 Sarah Elizabeth "Betty" Douthitt Bones, 89, of Henderson, Nev., and formerly of Pinetop passed away on March 24, 2008, at St. Rose Hospital in Henderson. She was born March 29, 1918, in Jefferson, Ohio, and grew up in El Centro, Calif. She married Larry A. Bones Sr., in 1939 and ultimately settled in Downey, Calif. Betty and her husband and sons spent many summers enjoying their land on Phoenix Park Wash near Overgaard. In 1985 Betty moved to Pinetop and settled into a home in Pinetop Lakeside Country Club, where she loved hosting her children and grandchildren. Though she moved to Henderson in the late 1990s to care for her ailing sister, she always felt a strong connection to the White Mountains. She is survived by sons Larry (Kay) Bones Jr., Jerry Bones and Randy (Lisa) Bones; grandchildren Natally (Gerald) Rickert, Roxanne Bones, James (Allison) Bones, Ryan (Violet) Bones, William (Adrienne) Bones, Renee Bones and Alex Bones. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren and a sister, Jessie Bliss of Julian, Calif.
