Shirley Ann Kennedy, age 84, died March 11, 2010 at her residence in Parker, Ariz. She was born Dec. 21, 1926 in Ohio and had lived in Parker for 15 years.
Shirley lived in Long Beach, Calif., where she met and married her husband, Thomas Robert Kennedy, in 1945. They were married 57 years when her husband died in 2003.
Shirley was a cosmetologist for 30 years of her life in Long Beach and loved her job. She loved to socialize with her clients and enjoyed making new friends. Shirley belonged to a sorority club from 1950-1965. She loved to swing dance and listen to big bands.
Shirley and Thomas raised their three children in Long Beach until 1970. They sold their home in Long Beach and lived in Stanton, Calif., until 1994. They then moved to Parker to be close to their daughter Katherine and her girls and they both enjoyed the Colorado River.
It was hard for Shirley to adjust to living in a small town at first, but then she grew to enjoy it. Shirley was always up all the time and never had a negative word to say about anything.
Shirley will truly be missed by everyone who knew her. She was one of the kindest hearted people you ever had the pleasure of knowing. Shirley passed away in her home with her family by her side just the way she wanted it to be.
She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas R. Kennedy, her parents, sister Diane, brother Bill and son Steven Kennedy.
Survivors include two daughters, Katherine Stegall and Karen Turner; six granddaughters and one grandson: Traci Stanier, Kevin Turner, Kristina Gilliland, Jamie Stegall, Ashley Hirsch, Julie Turner, and Jacenda Kennedy: 12 great-grandchildren, Megan Stegall, Brittany Gilliland, Tallin Gilliland, Courtney Johnson, Cole Stanier, Madison Stanier, Nevaeh Stegall, Chloe Hirsch, Bryce Hirsch, Strummer Turner, Justice Turner and London Turner.
