Arizona Silver Belt, Globe, AZ Wednesday, December 29, 2010 William O. Hughes, age 87 of Globe, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2010. He was born in Globe, Ariz. on Oct. 21, 1923, the son of May and Lyle F. Hughes. Bill graduated from Globe High School and entered the United States Navy and proudly served his country during World War II. When the war was over he ventured back to Globe and worked as a welder for the local mines for over 30 years. After retiring from Inspiration he spent four years as a steward with the Colorado Racing Commission, which gave him great enjoyment due to his love of horse racing. Bill leaves behind in loving memory his daughter, Sherrill (Jim) Wilhoit; his son, Dugger (Lisa) Hughes; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Graveside Services with Military Honors were held on Tuesday, Dec. 28, at Mountain Breeze Memorial Gardens, in Miami, Ariz.
