PARSONS, Richard Edgar, Sr.


Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, Arizona - Published Wednesday, December 19, 2007 - Richard Edgar Parsons Sr., also known as Donut Dick, passed away Friday, Dec. 14, 2007, at the age of 76. After a lengthy battle with cancer, his is now home with the Lord. Richard was born Aug. 10, 1931, to Frank and Blanche (Parsons) Miner, one of eight children. He married Mary A Parsons (Franz) at St. Ann's Catholic Church on June 26, 1954. Richard served in the Army as a paratrooper during the Korean War, he was a welder, machinist, and he owned a country store, two restaurants and a catering business. He sold everything and moved his family from Bridgewater, Maine to Lake Havasu City in July 1977. He then went to work for McCulloch Corp. And worked there for ten years. After that he owned and operated Baby O Donuts and Colorado River Kettle Corn at the swap meet. He enjoyed cooking, fishing, cross country travel with his wife, Mary, playing cards, western movies, country music, the Boston Red Sox, the New England Patriots and the Arizona Diamondbacks. Richard was a member of the Eagles, American Legion, and a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Richard is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary; their children, Marie E. Alvey, of Lexington Park, Md., Debra B. Parsons, of Lake Havasu City, Sharon J. (Parsons) Britton, of Lake Havasu City, Teresa A. (Tommy) Blazer, of Great Mills, Md., and Richard E. Parsons Jr., of Henderson, Nev.; five grandchildren, Kelley M. (Britton) Dorsey (Beau), Robert L. Britton JR., Amanda J. Britton, Kasey M. Standal, Hunter T. Blazer; three great grandchildren, Beau Lee Dorsey II, Haylee A. Dorsee, and Emmalee P. Dorsee; siblings, Jean B. Rack, of Escondido, Calif., and Ralph Parsons, of Florida; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his stepfather, Russell Miner and siblings, Frank Parsons, Gertrude Fox, Betty Youngs, twin brother Robert Parsons and Gilbert Miner. A celebration of his life will be held on Jan. 12, 2008 at 2 p.m., at the Lake Havasu City V.F.W. post 9401. He has unselfishly donated his body to Science Care for medical research.
