ROGERS, Joe Wayman


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ April 17, 2008 Joe Waymon Rogers died April 15, 2008. He was born April 14, 1934, to Jimmy Hugo and Hazel Katherine Lewis Rogers, in Gary, Ind. in 1952 he married Lucille Hartman, at Crown Point, Ind., and were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Joe and Lucille are the parents of two daughters, Ginger Marie Casanova and Tracy Rogers and four sons, Joe Jr., Jimmie (Esther), Jeffrey (Tina) and Jerry, 24 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Jerry was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served as Young Men and Women President he served three stake missions, was Sunday School President, Elders Quorum President, a Primary teacher, High Priest Quorum Teacher and a wonderful Home Teacher. He served for over three years in the Snowflake Temple. He loved serving the Lord. He worked as a welder for 18 years and as an electcian for 30 years. He loved to read and became self sufficient - working with his solar projects. Most of all, he adored his family. He was very involved in the lives of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Lucille, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, one brother James Robert Rogers and two sisters, Vilate Delores Lanier and Charlotte Louise Scheidt. He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter Bianca Rogers. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 19, at the Concho Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A viewing will be held at 9 a.m. and services following at 10 a.m. The Concho Branch building is on Cinder Road, past the elementary school off of Highway 61. Interment will be at the Reed Hatch Memorial Cemetery in Taylor. Silver Creek Mortuary of Taylor handled arrangements.
