WHITMAN, Sandra I.

The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ March 10, 2008 Sandra I. Whitman, 67, died peacefully March 7, 2008, in Afton, Okla., near the shores of her beloved Grand Lake of the Cherokees. She was born in Phoenix to Tod and Myrtle Harper. She graduated from Creighton Elementary, Scottsdale High School and attended Arizona State University. Sandy began her business career in 1963 with Phoenix Title and Trust, which later became Transamerica Title Insurance Company. She spent many years as a senior escrow officer before retiring from Landamerica/ Transnation Title in 2005. Sandy was predeceased by her parents and her brother Joe Harper. Sandy is survived by her husband, Dennis of Pinetop, son Marc of Anchorage, Alaska; son Tod and his wife Riquie of Springfield, Miss.; and by many friends and relatives. She will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother and friend and a loyal and dedicated employee. Prayer service will be held Wednesday, March 12, at 7 p.m. followed by visitation at Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, Miss. A Celebration of Life will be held at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Pierce City, Mo., at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 13. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
