Bertha G. Elliott was born April 4, 1918, in Silver Hill, Ky. She passed gently from this earth on the wings of a dove Monday Dec. 10, 2007, at the Havasu Nursing Center where she has resided for the last 15 months.
Prior to that time she also lived at the Prestige at Claremont Assisted Living for about three years where she made several special friends.
Bertha is survived by her sister, Alta Helton, from Salyersville, Ky.; children; Woodrow (Mary) Cantrell Jr., from Dover, De., Elaine Cantrell, from Charlottesville, Va., Rita Reavell, from Yorba Linda, Calif.; step-children; Ed (Sharon) Elliott, from Englewood, Ohio, Ronald (Marilyn) Elliott, from Sonora, Calif.
Bertha was blessed with ten grand children and several great grand children and many nieces and nephews.
In addition, she also had two very special extended families that doted on her since she lost her beloved husband, M.R. Elliott in 2002, Randy and Karen Hawkins, Shanda and Todd Schleich and children who adopted "Grandma Bertha".
Bertha did her part during world war ll working as a "Rosie the Riveter" at the Curtis Wright Air Force Factory in Buffalo, New York. Later she worked as a nurse's aide at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Fairborn, Ohio where she lived many years.
Bertha and M.R. moved to Lake Havasu City in the early 1980's and just loved the fishing, boating and traveling. Bertha enjoyed singing old time religion hymns; especially the ones that had more of a country twang to them. After all she was from Kentucky.
Bertha was an expert seamstress and an avid quilter, many of which her family members have enjoyed receiving and using over the years. She was an expert at quilt making that some of her earlier quilts are registered at a museum in Delaware.
Bertha was proud to be a strong fundamentalist Baptist and had a deep love for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
The family would also like to take this opportunity to express their appreciation to everyone at the Havasu Nursing Center that did there utmost to give Bertha their best of committed care giving and compassion.
A service celebrating her life will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday at Lake Havasu Mortuary and crematory, 2225 N. Kiowa Blvd. Viewing will be from noon-3 p.m., prior to the service.
She will be buried next to her husband M.R. Elliott, Monday at the Southern Nevada Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Boulder, Nev.
