James Arnold Jones, Sr., born in the Oklahoma Indian Nation before the territory was accorded statehood, died Sept. 15 in Wickenburg.
Mr. Jones, 85, had lived in Wickenburg for the past year.
Services were later conducted in Mulvane, Kan.
Jones was born Sept. 12, 1902 in Teleguah, Oklahoma Indian Territory, five years before Oklahoma became a state.
He famed in Colorado and also operated a service station.
He was active in the Republican Party and served in the House of Representatives, 34th General Assembly of the State of Colorado.
Jones was a life member of Blue Lodge No. 15 of Fowler, Colo.; Consistory 32nd Degree, Pueblo, Colo.; and active member of the Mulvane Methodist Church and an honorary member of the Kansas State Peace Officers Association.
Survivors include two sons, James A. Jones, Jr., of Wickenburg and John F. Jones of Phoenix; two daughters, Virginia R. (Patty) Green of Portland, Ore., and Silvia A. Zingeser of Portland, Ore.; a brother, Everett G. Jones of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two step-daughters, Nolan Owens of Brownsville, Calif., and Gladys, Lettman of Garden Grove, Calif.; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were by Wickenburg Funeral Home and Smiths Funeral Home in Derby, Kan.
