Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, Arizona October 15, 1987, page 2-A Memorial services were conducted Sunday in Aguila for Thomas G. Bonar, 76, who died Oct. 7 in Phoenix Baptist Hospital. The Rev. Ted Corven and Russell Hawkins officiated. Mr. Bonar had lived in Aguila for 16 years. He was born Feb. 22, 1911 in Bromfield, Colo., where he ranched and farmed until 1971. He married Iris Cody on July 11, 1937. Mr. Bonar was instrumental in bringing electricity to the rural area north of Denver through the formation of the Union Rural Electric Association. He expanded this service by helping to form the Mid-west Electric Association and the Tri-State G&T. While serving in these capacities he was a master of ceremonies at the dedication of the Oake Dam ion Pierce, S.D., where he greeted President John F. Kennedy. He was presented a distinguished service away by the National Rural Electric Association. Mr. Bonar was a 4-H leader for 10 years; a founder of Crescent Junior Grange, Broomfield, Colo.; a 50-year member of the Crescent Grange; a member of the Lions Club of Aguila; the Community Bible Church of Aguila; and a member of Sundale South Camp, Gideons International, Peoria. Survivors include his wife, Iris T.; and sons and daughter LaVica and Robert; Andre and Tara; LeEtta and Robert Green and Denise; LaRita and Walter Stoufer and Leslie and Jaceyln; LeTisha and Stan Willschen and Molly, Montica and Jason; and Tom and Susan Bonar and Lenna. Contributions may be made to the national Jewish Hospital Allergy Research Center, Denver, Colo.; Gideons International; or a charity of the donor‘s choice.
