Services for Edward Carl Nickels, 80, of Wickenburg, are scheduled today (Thursday) at 10 a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wickenburg.
The Revs. Kenneth Baisden and Adam Lautenschalgger will officiate.
Mr. Nickels died Oct. 25 in the Wickenburg Nursing Home.
He was born Oct. 13, 1907 in Chicago, Ill.
He moved to Phoenix in 1946 for health reasons and had lived in Arizona 41 years.
He married Dorothy Davis on Nov. 28, 1934.
He was confirmed into the Lutheran Church at an early age and as a young man he worked in the steel mills in Gary, Ind., and farmed.
Mr. Nickels worked at Superlite Builders Supply for almost 24 years, and retired from that company in 1970.
He was active in Lutheran Churches in Indiana, and in the Prescott, Phoenix and Wickenburg communities.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy A., of Wickenburg; three sons, Kenneth, of Manhattan Beach, Calif., Ernest, of Tempe, and Dennis of Brunnsum, The Netherlands; a daughter, Marian Tripp of Tucson; two sisters, Evelyn Greigee of Francisville, Ind., and Lois Tanner of Winaimac, Ind.; a brother, Henry Nickels, of Chesterson, Ind.; 10 grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.
