Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, Arizona November 19, 1987, page 2-A Memorial services were Monday, Nov. 16 at the First Presbyterian Church of Wickenburg for Adelia L. “Dee” Norris of Wickenburg. Pastor Bruce McQueen officiated. Mrs. Norris, 89, died Nov. 11 in Boswell Hospital in Sun City. She was born Sept. 18, 1898 in Berlin, Conn. She had lived in Wickenburg for the past four years. Mrs. Norris was the daughter of Frank and Josephine Lawrence. She was raised and educated in Branford, Conn., graduating from Stone’s business College in New Haven, Conn. She was a bookkeeper and accountant and also a florist, studying under Max Schling in New York City. She married John P. Norris, who preceded her in death in 1982. She was active in the Branford (Conn.) Garden Club, Federated Garden Clubs of America; the Half Hour Reading Club of America; Conservation Commission, Visiting Nurses Associating; and was a charter member of the Branford Sunshine Club, a local organization of 32 members founded in the early 1900s dedicated to caring for the sick and indigent of Branford. Mrs. Norris was one of three surviving members of the now-disbanded club. In addition to establishing her own flower shop, she also was employed by Traveler’s Insurance Co. in Hartford and the Malleable from Fittings Co. of Branford. Mrs. Norris had lived in Wickenburg with her daughter, Joan, and now-deceased son-in-law, James M. Randall, since December, 1983. The Arizona desert and skies never ceased to fascinate her. Survivors include three daughters, Joan N. Randall of Wickenburg, Nancy N. Gould of Mystic, Conn., and Susan N. McKinlay of Branford, Conn.; and three grandsons and five granddaughters.
