Pete S. LaFata, 81, died Monday March 24, 2008, at RTA Hospice in Lakeside.
Pete was a U.S. Navy WWII veteran who helped liberate the Philippines. He was a member of the American Legion Post 76 in Show Low and a member of the VFW. Pete was also a past member of the Pioneer Living History Village in Phoenix where he enjoyed portraying an Arizona Ranger from the 1800s during re-enactments on the weekends.
Pete lived his life the way he wanted and didn't regret it. He enjoyed his family and friends and especially his neighbor Gary in Show Low.
Pete was preceded in death by his first wife, Terry, and just recently on March 21, 2008 his second wife Jean.
He is survived by his three sons, Peter, Thomas and Steven of Phoenix, three grandchildren TJ, Julianna and Jonquil; and nephew William Brownell of Georgia and nieces Debbie Hochbaum of Georgia and Alice Mulcock of Florida.
His ashes will be scattered along the Mogollon Rim. In lieu of cards or flowers donate to the American Legion or VFW to help returning veterans.
Arrangements are under the direction of Black's Mortuary of Show Low.
