James F. Nissen died quietly Feb. 9, 2008, at his home in Springerville surrounded by his family as he went to be with the Lord. He was born Jan. 22, 1926, in Laurel, Neb.
Jim lived in Lincoln, Neb., until moving to Yuma in 1958. He was employed by Arizona Beverage and All American Distributing Co. until his retirement.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Madonna; his loving son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Becky; brother Jene; and his much loved stepdaughter, Donna Jean (Ron) Franks; grandchildren Nathan, Matthew, Jordan Nissen, Tim Franks, Christa (James) Gerber, Jennifer (Billy Palacio) Franks, Ariana Kenny and Rebecca Hardin; and great-grandson Chase Palacio.
He was preceded in death by his parents, August and Olga Nissen; son Terry; brothers Bob and Don; sister JoAnn Carsten; as well as stepchildren Chuck, Carol and Mary Wood.
The family has planned a celebration of Jim's life to follow this spring in the mountains he loved in Springerville.
