Floyd “Van” VanDomelen, 96, of Hancock, Mich., passed away peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008, at the Cypress Manor Nursing Home in Hancock.
He was born in 1912 in Shelby, Mich., and was a graduate of Kalamazoo College and the University of Michigan.
Van was a veteran of WWII and a Colonel in the U.S. Air Force. He retired in 1970 from work in the Pentagon for the Department of Defense as the Civilian Personnel Director of the Air Force.
An outdoorsman, fast car aficionado, gardener, traveler and historian, Van was married 67 loving years to his surviving wife, Sara, of Hancock. He is also survived by son John (Naomi) of Prescott, Ariz.; daughter Christine of Hancock; grandson Andrew (Theresa); great-grandson Jeff of Prescott; brother Harold of Bonita Springs, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no public visitation or service at this time.
Arrangements are being handled by the Jukuri-Antila Funeral Home of Hancock, Antila Funeral Service Inc.
