Mason City Globe Gazette - Mason City, Iowa July 10, 1995 Russell E. "Buck" Reasoner, 77, of Belmond, Iowa died Thursday (July 6, 1995) at the Belmond Healthcare Center. Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Laurence Garrett officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery, Rowan. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday at Tenold Funeral Home. Russell E. Reasoner, the son of James Reasoner and Alice (nee) Wright Reasoner, was born April 23, 1918, at Dows. When he was in the third grade, Russell moved with his family to Rowan and entered the school system there. He graduated with the Rowan Senior Class of 1937. During the high school years, he worked part time as a section hand with the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad, and after school learned the skill of a telegrapher. For a time he served on the "Extra Board" traveling with the railroad for a short term duty in several locations. On Aug. 10, 1941, he was united in marriage with Margaret Emerson of Rowan, in Arco, Minn. She accompanied him in his travels with the railroad company. They finally settled in Crystal Lake in 1941, where he served for a time as mayor of the community. They came to Belmond in 1960 where Russell served as depot agent with the railroad, retiring in 1978. Russ was an avid golfer, and was involved in the founding of the Belmond Country Club golf course. He served on the City Planning and Zoning Board of Belmond. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, taking his regular turn at ushering. He and Margaret spent many winters in Arizona, but loved their home in Belmond. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Reasoner, of Belmond; a daughter, Pamela Reasoner Kass of Apple Valley, Minn.; a granddaughter, Chrstina; a sister, Opal Downey of Farmington, Minn.; and two brothers, Edward Reasoner of Belmond and Lloyd Reasoner of Spicer, Minn. He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Gertrude Reasoner; and brothers, Casper Reasoner, John Reasoner and George Reasoner.
