The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ February 29, 2008 Karen Mineer, 70, died Feb. 23, 2008, in Phoenix. Karen was born in Provo, Utah, April 6, 1937, and was the first of six children of Farr and Melva Whiting of St. Johns. Karen married her high school sweetheart, Kelly Mineer, July 30, 1954. Together, they made a home and raised their six children in St. Johns. Karen was a homemaker, devoting her time to her husband, children and her grandchildren. She served for many years in Primary, MIA and relief society callings. She enjoyed people and gardening, but her greatest love was her grandchildren and was happiest spending time with them building memories. Karen was preceded in death by Kelly shortly after their 50th wedding anniversary in 2004. She is survived by her children, Terri (Roger) Heap of St. Johns, Judy (David) Bergen of South Ogden, Utah, Kirby (Josie) Mineer of St. Johns, Margot (Isaiah) Gibson of Vidor, Texas, Mark (Tish) Mineer of Phoenix and Kristi (Jim) Zieler of St. Johns; 26 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and the countless friends she made everywhere she went. A visitation was held Tuesday, Feb. 26, from 6-8 p.m. at Burnham Mortuary in St. Johns. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 27, at 11 a.m. at the Downtown Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in St. Johns. A visitation was held one hour prior to the services. Burnham Mortuary of St. Johns handled the arrangements.
