Serving his country for nearly 40 years and fulfilling his spiritual destiny for God, Eugene Lee Lofgreen was called home in his sleep Feb. 19, 2008. He was 59.
Eugene was born March 24, 1948, in Benson to Virginia and Joseph Lofgreen. Eugene grew up and attended school in Carpinteria, Calif.
At the age of 20, Eugene enlisted in to the Army and served honorably in Vietnam. After his active duty service, Eugene lived a humble life as a tile setter and an artist.
Eugene was known for his humble wisdom, compassion for those in need and his willingness to give to others often at the detriment of his own needs. It was his absolute faith in God to provide that always saw him through life, and it was the good Lord that continued to provide for Eugene to the very end.
Eugene was loved, will be missed dearly and is survived by his children, Shad, Jessica, Kelly and Michael; granddaughter Arianna; brothers and sisters Beverly, Joanna, Jenny, Rick, Jim, Joe and John as well as countless nieces and nephews.
His brother Bob passed away from Alzheimer's in May 2007.
The family wishes to acknowledge the following people for their selfless outpouring of love, compassion and support of Eugene over the years when he was alive: Deborah, JoAnn, Bob, Fuzzy, Sandy, Sue, Carl, Chad, Brad, Lindsey and all of their families.
Memorial services for Eugene will be private to the families in California and Arizona. His body will be laid to rest in the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona with military funeral honors.
