HACKERT, Delbert Frederick


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ March 4, 2008 Delbert Frederick Hackert, 86, died peacefully, Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008, in Lakeside. Del was born Sept. 29, 1921, in Chicago, Ill., to the late Fred and Jesse Hackert. He was an avid crossword puzzle enthusiast, very well read individual until the end. He was a space enthusiast who met Werner Von Braun while working for Air Research. Family was of the most importance in his life. Del is survived by two daughters, Penny Ann (Bob) Bixby of Lakeside and Pam Ann Schulz of Mesa; three grandchildren, Leslie, Michael and Jennifer; great-grandchildren Courtney and Carter; sister Janice (Bill) Butts of Florida. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 plus years, Marie; two brothers, Richard and Will; as well as his sister, June. Services will be planned for a later date.
