WOOD, Freda Jean (Fred)

The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ March 4, 2008 Freda Jean Wood, affectionately known as "Fred", died Sunday, March 2, 2008, surrounded by her family at RTA Hospice and Palliative Care in Lakeside following a lengthy battle with cancer. She was 64. Fred was born June 16, 1943 in Ft. Smith, Ark. to her parents, the late L.D. Chitwood and Joe Caudle Chitwood. Fred moved to Show Low from California in 1986 and worked several years at Show Low's Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center as a Medical Transcriptionist. She is survived by two sons, Dale Lee Wood (Brenda) of Iowa Park, Texas, Gregory Alan "Greg" Wood (Kendra) of Santee, Calif.; two daughters, Denise Rene Walls (Darrell) of Linden, Deborah Rae Morris (Bill) of Forest Lakes; her mother, Joe Chitwood of Apache Junction; her sister, Vickie Lynn Bray (Tom) of Frisco, Texas; eight grandchildren, Crystal McNabb, Jacob Wood, T.J. Morris, Tawny Morris, Joshua Wood, Jared Wood, Hannah Wood, Daniel Wood; and one great-granddaughter, Gianna McNabb. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 5, at Owens Mortuary, White Mountain Chapel, 320 N. 9th Street in Show Low. Memorial contributions to RTA Hospice and Palliative Care, 1789 W.
