SALAZAR, Stella

The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ March 7, 2008 Stella Salazar, 83, died at the Friendship House March 2, 2008. She was born Jan. 20, 1925, to Jose B. and Crecencia Silva Salazar in Springerville and was a lifelong resident. Stella cared for the Herbella children and worked at their store; she was the primary caregiver to Chona Baca (wife of Gregorio Baca). She is survived by her brother, Eloy (Petra) Salazar of Holbrook; nephews Timothy Salazar and Peter Salazar; and several cousins. Stella was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister. A rosary will be held Friday, March 7, at 7 p.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Springerville. A funeral Mass will be held Saturday, March 8, at 10 a.m. at the church.
