James Myko Cram, 55, of Lakeside died Nov. 20, 2007, at his home after a yearlong battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born Sept. 20, 1952, in Clinton, Iowa.
James was raised by his loving parents, Richard and Delores Cram. When he was 12 years old, his family moved to Belvidere, Ill. After graduating from Belvidere High School in 1973 he attended Rockford College in Rockford, Ill., and successfully completed a radiology program and became an X-ray technician.
His profession gave him the opportunity to work in various locations throughout the United States as well as Canada, Australia and the Caribbean. James moved to Phoenix and worked for Good Samaritan Hospital of Phoenix. He eventually moved to the Lakeside area and practiced his profession as an ultrasound technician at Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center, formerly recognized as Navapache Regional Medical Center.
He enjoyed the people he worked with and took great pride in helping his patients. Many of these people became his longtime friends. James, being a world traveler, adventurer and a free spirit discovered purpose, made friends and found home in the White Mountains.
Nearing his last days, he warmly expressed, "I only wish Ruth the best and hope she continues to love, protect and be a good mom to Lily." He went on, proud to say, "Lily has and always will be the light of my life, pure love in my heart and the most wonderful daughter a father could have ever been blessed with."
The family of James will never forget the emotional support the wonderful people of Summit Healthcare gave to James while he was alive and during his passing. "We thank you from our hearts for being there."
The staff and friends at Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center held a special memorial service.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Delores Cram.
He is survived by his ex-wife, Ruth Cram; daughter Lily Hunter Cram; three brothers, Terry Cram of Washington, W.V., David Dithmart of North Hollywood, Calif., and Robert Cram of San Marino, Calif.; and a sister, Debra Cram of Oshkosh, Wis.
In remembrance, his family and friends will dedicate a park bench overlooking Rainbow Lake to James. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Rainbow Lake.
