Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, Arizona April 7, 1988, page 2-A Memorial services were conducted March 31 for Velma Hawkins, 72, of Congress, at her home in Congress. Mrs. Hawkins died earlier in the month at her home, following a long illness. She was born near LaValle, Wisc., on April 2, 1915, and had lived in Congress for the past 11 years. Survivors include a daughter, Caroline Hawkins of Englishtown, N.J.; a brother, Horlin Huffman of Newmberg, Ore,; two sisters, Emmaline LaMar of Congress, and Carmilla Janecheck of Mauston, Wisc.; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends who mourn her.
