Private services were conducted earlier this month for Freda D. Diedrich, a longtime former Wickenburg resident, who died April 7 in Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Cottonwood.
Memorial services will be conducted locally for Mrs. Diedrich at Redeemer Lutheran Church on Rose Lane at 10 a.m. Thursday (today).
Mrs. Diedrich, 82, was a resident of Lake Montezuma at the time of her death.
She had lived in Wickenburg for almost 40 years, moving to the community in 1946 and living here through 1985.
Mrs. Diedrich was active in town government and in civic affairs, and was honored by the Community Action Program in 1985 for 17 years of service to that program. She was instrumental in founding the program in Wickenburg.
She served on the Wickenburg Town Council from 1975-1978.
Mrs. Diedrich was born in 1906 in Bay County, Mich.
She retired in 1975 as a self-employed nursing home supervisor.
She established the Echo Hills Nursing Home in Wickenburg, which she operated for 21 years.
She was a charter member of Redeemer Lutheran Church of Wickenburg.
In addition to her role in establishing the Community Action Program, serving as the first chairperson of the Wickenburg Area Board., she and her husband, who preceded her in death, were instrumental in founding Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Caroline Miller of Lake Montezuma; a son, Robert Diedrich; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were by the Wescott Funeral Home of Prescott.
