Funeral Is Held Mrs. John C. Wittenberger of Savanna, Illinois, who had been in poor health for several months died early Tuesday morning [February 1963] at Phoenix, Arizona. Her funeral was held in Waukon Friday, with the Rev. Mr. David Conway of Savanna Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in Oakland cemetery. Mrs. Wittenberger was formerly Ida Teeple. She was the daughter of Lucinda and Frank Teeple, born March 21, 1886. She was married June 22, 1910 at Waukon to John C. Wittenberger who died September 26, 1951. Although she had lived in Waukon, Fayette and East Dubuque, Mrs. Wittenberger's home had been in Savanna since 1919. She was with her daughter Marion in Phoenix at the time of her death. The children are Frank Wittenberger of Postville and Marion E. Wittenberger of Phoenix. A daughter, Marjorie, preceded her mother. There are six grandchildren. Three sisters remain. They are Angie Teeple and Mrs. Cora McCabe of Waukon and Mrs. Sam Geiser of Dallas, Texas. Educated at Waukon high school and Upper Iowa University at Fayette, Mrs. Wittenberger was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, the Methodist Church, and other organizations in Savanna.
