John Clyde
John Clyde Wilson died Sunday, October 16, at Litchfield, AZ. He was born in Monroe County, IA, in 1903. He married Thelma Johnson, daughter of Jen Hiatt and George Johnson, in 1930. (formerly of Moravia) A resident of Arizona since 1929, he served in the Arizona State Legislature from 1933 to 1937. He was a partner in the law offices of Wilson and Towner, and J.C. Wilson Investment Co. in Buckeye, AZ. He also farmed with his brother, Spencer Wilson. Clyde joined the Arizona National Guard in 1930 and retired in 1969. He held a variety of positions. After World War II he helped reorganize the Guard and served as Adjutant General under three governors. He earned the rank of Lt. General. Clyde had served on the Buckeye, AZ Chamber of Commerce, the Litchfield Kiwanis Club, the Arizona Power Authority, the Arizona Cotton Growers, the National Cotton Council of America, the Supima Association of America, the Arizona Compensation Fund, the Avondale/Goodyear School Board, and Church Council of the Church at Litchfield Park.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma; two daughters, Jane Cummins of Mesa, AZ and Mary Hume of Dateland, AZ; four grandchildren, Phil and Heather Harris, and Jennifer and John Hume. Memorial services were held October 19, 1994, at the Church of Litchfield Park, 300 North Litchfield Road, Litchfield Park AZ 85340.
