Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, Arizona June 2, 1988, page 2-A Floyd O. Johnson, a former Wickenburg resident, died May 12 at his home on Blakely Island, Wash., following a long illness. Mr. Johnson and his wife, Joan, who survives him, were former residents of Wickenburg’s Country Club Park. He was born in Crawford County, Mich., and for many years was a sales executive with the Stinson Aircraft corp., selling airplanes to celebrities that included Amos and Andy, Wallace Beery, and James Stewart. An early day aviation pioneer, he moved to the Portland, Ore., area in the 1950s and in 1954 purchased Blakely Island—fulfilling his dream of a “pilot’s paradise. Mr. Johnson was an active pilot for more than 50 years. He was a member of the Portland Hangar of Quiet Birdmen, and a supporter of a number of aviation organizations.
