Denney Otis Neace, a longtime winter resident of Wickenburg, died May 27 in Immanuel Hospital in Portland, Ore. He was 66.
Services were conducted June 1, with interment in Waitsburg, Wash. Odd Fellows Cemetery.
Mr. Neace was born May 16, 1922 in Melstone, Mt., the son of Byron L. and Evelyn B. Eagles Neace.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia, whom he married in New York City on Sept. 21, 1944.
The couple lived at Westpark in Wickenburg for 34 years, maintaining a year-round residence in Waitsburg, Wash.
Mr. Neace was a graduate of Waitsburg High School, and attended Washington State College, Whitman College, and received an engineering degree from Cornell University at Ithaca, N.Y., in 1944.
He was commissioned an ensign in the Navy in 1944 and served as an engineering officer on the U.S.S. Waukesha in the Pacific Theater until the end of World War II.
He farmed in the Waitsburg area for many years until his retirement.
He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Waitsburg; past master and life member of Waitsburg No. 16, F&AM; past patron of Waitsburg Chapter No.9, O.E.S.; member of the York Rite Bodies of Dayton and El Katif Shrine; life member of Elks Lodge No. 287 of Walla Walla, Wash.; member of the Walla Walla Country Club and the Spokane Club; member of the Washington Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (he was a pilot for many years); and a licensed amateur radio operator.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Dr. Lewis D. Neace of Portland, Ore.; two aunts, Mary Harvey of Melstone, Wash., and Charlotte Mikkelson of Walla Walla, Wash.; a grandson, Kenney Lewis Byron Neace of Portland; and several cousins.
