Des Moines Register, Des Moines, Iowa Tuesday, October 8, 2008 MARY WILLIAMS - Phoenix, AZ Mary Williams passed away on September 25, 2008 after suffering from Alzheimer’s for the past nine years. Mary was born to Charles W. and Louise C. Newman on December 23, 1930 in Des Moines, Iowa, but spent most of the last 45 years of her life in Phoenix, Arizona. Mary is survived by her daughter, Dex MacQuarrie of Portland, Oregon, a sister, Linda Salyers of Phoenix, Arizona, a brother, Lawrence Newman of Adel, Iowa, as well as a grandson, Bill Werden of Phoenix, Arizona, four great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Charles W. Newman and Louise C. McAvoy of Des Moines, Iowa. According to her wishes, Mary has been cremated and a private family interment will be held at a later date. McCalley Funeral Home in Adel is in charge of arrangements.
