RALSTON, Edward Ray


Mohave Daily News, Mohave Valley, Arizona - Published in Mohave Daily News Online from January 4 to January 11, 2011 - Edward Ray Ralston, age 90, a 28-year resident of Bullhead City, passed away on Thursday, December 30, 2010, in Bullhead City, Ariz. Edward was born on May 26, 1920, in Coffeeville, Mississippi, to Elonzo and Lula (Liles) Ralston. Edward served as a mechanic in the U.S. Navy aboard ship USS MacDonough (Farragut-class destroyer in the United States Navy during World War II), and was a Pearl Harbor Survivor. The MacDonough was in port on December 7, 1941 during the attack on Pearl Harbor, and downed one of the Japanese attack planes before heading out to sea to join others in the search for the Japanese task force. Edward moved from California to Arizona in 1982, where he continued working as a mechanic in the auto industry for over 30 years. Edward was also a church member of Riviera Baptists. He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie, both parents, one brother, and two sisters. Edward is survived by his only daughter, Bonnie of Simi Valley, California; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. A Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 4, 2011, at Desert Lawn Funeral Home, 9250 S. Ranchero Lane, Mohave Valley, Ariz. Pastor John Wittington will be officiating.
