Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, Arizona - Published Tuesday, January 4, 2011 - Jury Utkin passed away Jan. 2, 2011, in Lake Havasu City. He was born in Riga, Latvia to Nicholas and Vera (Van Oern) Utkin Jan. 4, 1924. Jury married his beloved bride, Linde Quell, Jan. 14, 1950, and together they came to the United States in 1952 from Europe, moving to Chicago, Ill. In 1966, they packed up the family and moved to Lake Havasu City. He worked for McCulloch Corp., retiring after 30 years of service. He was a volunteer fireman in Havasu’s first fire department. He also served 30 years with the Coast Guard Auxiliary and several times, he was elected as commander. Jury was also one of the instructors for the Safe Boating course. Jury leaves behind his wife of 60 years, Linde Utkin; two sons, Alex Utkin and his wife, Lynne, and Peter Utkin and his wife, Janene; daughter, Irene Reinhold; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. A memorial gathering will take place Friday, 5 to 7 p.m. at Lietz-Fraze Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Western Arizona Humane Society, 1100 Empire Dr. Lake Havasu City, AZ 86404.
