Jay Clyde Hicks Jr., 84, of Show Low died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008, at Bannon Springs Ranch. Mr. Hicks was born June 11, 1923, in Missouri.
He moved to Tucson at an early age. He grew up and attended school in Tucson, graduating from Tucson High School in 1942. Following graduation, he entered the U.S. Air Force. He lived in Springfield, Ore., for a number of years, where he was exalted ruler of the local Elks Lodge and a district governor of the Lions Club.
He was married to the former Mildred (Mackie) McNeill Dec. 7, 2003, in Las Vegas, Nev. He worked as a supervisor for Pacific Power and Light for over 30 years. He was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Show Low Lodge No. 2090 and of Lions International. He enjoyed watching and attending rodeos.
Survivors include his wife, Mackie; three daughters, Sharon Henry and Karen Manesneque, both of Portland, Ore., and Carol Henry of Bakersfield, Calif.; two sons, Charles Hicks of San Diego, Calif., and Bill Hicks of Kenmore, Wash.; eight grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
Memorial services will be held at Saturday noon, March 1, at the Show Low Elks Lodge 2090.
