Barbara Ann "Mussy" Barnes, 71, of St. Johns died Friday, Feb. 1, 2008, at Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center in Show Low following a lengthy illness.

Barbara was born Nov. 21, 1936, in St. Johns, to the late George T. and Margaret Cecilia (Sklenka) Beattie.

She is survived by her daughter, Kelly (Kurt) VanEvera of Cornville, as well as her brother, George (Ann) Beattie of Colorado Springs, Colo.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Wade Barnes, Jan. 9, 2003.

A Celebration of Life service will be held 2:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18, at the St. Johns Senior Center, 395 South 1st West in St. Johns.

Owens Mortuary of Holbrook handled the arrangements.
