The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ February 12, 2008 Ila Evelyn Livingston, 95, of Show Low died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008, at the Carriage House in Snowflake. Ila was born Feb. 11, 1912, in Abilene, Texas, to James and Bertha (May) Alexander. She was reared and attended school in Abilene and Amarillo, both in Texas. She was married to Ryburn "Bob" Livingston when she was 19 years of age. She came to Arizona in the early 1950s, settling in Casa Grande and coming to Show Low one year later. She worked as a clerk at Huso Shoe Store and Show Low Pharmacy. She served many years as an election marshall. She enjoyed fishing and gardening and grew a garden into her late 1980s. Mayor Gary Whipple proclaimed her 90th birthday as "Ila Livingston Day" in Show Low. She was well known as a joke-teller and was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Show Low. Survivors include sister Skippy Ellis of Phoenix; nieces Patricia Messenger of Overgaard and Sharon McMahon of Black Canyon; and nephew Paul Ellis of Phoenix. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two sisters, Edith and Pearl. A celebration of Ila's life will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16, at the First Baptist Church in Show Low with Pastor Mark Crotinger officiating.
