The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ February 15, 2008 Stanley J. Pearce, 82, of Taylor died Friday, Feb. 1, 2008, at RTA Hospice in Lakeside. He was born June 15, 1925, in Taylor to Perry and Rose (Hancock) Pearce. He was the fifth of 11 children. He was also the grandson of James and Mary Jane (Meeks) Pearce, founding father of Taylor. He grew up in Taylor, loved fishing and served his country in WWII in Germany. Stan was a salesman - there was probably nothing he hadn't sold in his lifetime. He is survived by his daughter, Mary Rose (Paul) Wade of Concho; stepdaughter Sherrie Hammond of Taylor; two grandkids, Duncan and Chauncey Rose Pearce of Grand Rapids, Mich.; brothers Boyd H. (Mary Lou) Pearce of Walker, Mich., and Sharmon Pearce of Claypool; brother-in-law Darwin (Bobbie) Petersen of Payson; and lots of nieces, nephews, great- nieces and -nephews and great-great-nieces and -nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Jude Pearce of Grand Rapids, Mich., parents Perry and Rose Pearce; sisters Ruth Pearce of Holbrook, June (Quill) Hatch of Taylor, Ilean (Joel) Lewis of Newcastle, Wyo., and Winslow and Emily (Darwin) Petersen of Apache Junction; sisters-in-law Doreen (Lyle) Pearce of Flint, Mich., Karlene (Sharmon) Pearce of Claypool and Carol (Doug) Pearce of Winslow; brothers Emerald Joe (Emily's twin), Perry Dean (age 8), Lyle Pearce of Flint, Mich., and Doug Perce of Winslow; brothers-in-law Joel Lewis (Ilean) of Winslow and Quill (June) Hatch of Taylor. No services are planned. The family suggests donations be made to RTA Hospice in Lakeside.
