FORT MOHAVE — A date for the memorial service for two Fort Mohave boys who lost their lives in a recent fire has been set.
The services for 11-year-old Zachary Stevens and 7-year-old Justin Stevens will be held at 11 a.m. Jan. 8 at the Community Lutheran Church, 2275 Ricca Road, Bullhead City.
The boys perished in a structure fire that consumed the Ruby Street home of their family in the early hours of Dec. 26. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Fort Mojave Mesa Fire Department.
Local community organizer Jacob Abeytia, the family’s spokesman, said more details regarding the funeral services will be announced in upcoming days.
Desert Lawn Mortuary and Cemetery will be handling the arrangements.
“So many people, businesses and organizations have come forward and offered help through donations and other offers,” Abeytia said in a release. “(Parents Tammy Anderson and Jeff Stevens) would like to express their heartfelt appreciation for the outpouring of love, compassion and generosity from the Tri-state community.”
Monetary donations still are being accepted at Horizon Community Bank, 5858 Highway 95, Fort Mohave, under the account name Ruby Avenue Christmas Fire.
The Anderson-Stevens family still is in need of long-term housing and is looking in the Fort Mohave area for rental properties. Anyone with offers of assistance should contact Abeytia via e-mail at jpabeytia@yahoo.com.
The family is not accepting any donations of household furniture until they are able to find housing. Any goods in excess of their needs will be given to local charities, Abeytia said.
A Facebook page is being created to allow people to send messages of support to the family and can be found at www.facebook.com/pages/Ruby-Avenue-Christmas-Fire.
