Leona Fay Stottlemyre died on Jan. 3, 2011, at the age of 73. She was born in Farmersville, Texas on July 4, 1937.
She and her loving husband, Darle, were residents of Flagstaff for more than 50 years. They came here to learn the logging business and succeeded by owning their own company, as well as many rentals. They shared a very happy marriage for 55 years. Their love shone like a beacon and inspired everyone they met.
Mrs. Stottlemyre was proud to be a wife, mother, grandmother (Mamma), great grandmother, sister, daughter-in-law and friend. Her home was always open to family and friends. She was a very giving person. She loved cooking huge meals, cleaning and praising God.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sherman and Opal Vansickle; her son, David Loren Stottlemyre; her great grandchild, McKinzey Crystal Fay Brown; brothers Lelan Gray and Dwaine VanSickle; brother-in-law Paul Willsher; and sister-in-laws Joyce and Rose Stottlemyre.
Mrs. Stottlemyre has a large family and is survived by her husband, Darle Stottlemyre; her children, Dean (Cheri) Stottlemyre, Debbie (Scott) Irvin and Denise (ex-husband) Randy McAnally; brothers Gene and Ronnie VanSickle; sister Glenda Willsher; mother-in-law Mildred Stottlemyre; brother-in-laws Jimmy, Doyle, Lee (Jeri) Stottlemyre and Donna (Dale) Harrell; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren with two on the way.
The entire family considers that her love and generosity will be missed beyond words.
A viewing will be Friday night at the mortuary from 6 to 8 p.m. Services will be Saturday morning at 10 a.m. at Greenlaw Baptist Church. She will be buried next to her son, David, at Citizens Cemetery immediately following the service. Lunch will be at the church following the burial.
