Daisy Mae Douglas died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008, in Lakeside at the age of 89. She was born March 22, 1918, in Macon, Mo., to the late Forest and Pearl (Cress) Van Sickle.
On June 25, 1934, she married Herschel Douglas. After their marriage, they moved to Montana. While in Montana they had two sons. In 1950, the family moved to Arizona.
Daisy always had a smile for everyone. She loved her children and grandchildren. Her greatest joy came from visiting with family and friends.
Daisy is survived by her son, Norman Douglas of Chester, Idaho; daughter-in-law Linda Douglas of Phoenix; seven grandchildren, Deana Hartwig (Bob) of Albuquerque, N.M., Victor Douglas of Scottsdale, Diana Douglas of Gilbert, Rob Douglas (Lori) of Show Low, Angie Douglas (Joe) of Gilbert, Jeff Douglas of Gilbert and Jason Douglas of Gilbert; five great-grandchildren, Nicole Wheaton, Ryan Douglas, Ashley Arce (Derrek), BreAna Leinbach and Stacia Douglas; three brothers, Harold Van Sickle of Phoenix, Forrest Van Sickle (Marie) of Phoenix and Lloyd Van Sickle (Peggy) of Scottsdale.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Hershel Douglas, son Gene Douglas and sister Helen Newsome.
A cryptside memorial service was held Monday, Jan. 21, at Green Acres Mausoleum in Scottsdale.
