Decorah Public Opinion - Decorah, Iowa February 23, 1999 Alvin Wheatman, 77, of Peoria, Ariz., and formerly of Decorah, Iowa died Wednesday, Feb. 17, 1999, in a hospital in Phoenix, Ariz., following a lingering illness with leukemia. Funeral services were held Sunday, Feb. 21, at 2 p.m., at Peace Lutheran Church in Peoria, Ariz. Survivors include his wife, the former Charlotte Hilberg; three children, Alan, Greg and Beth; five grandchildren, Josh and Emily Wheatman, also Amanda, Almond and Kyle, all of Arizona; and two sisters, Helen Gilbertson of Minnewaukan, N. D., and Elsie Neste of Decorah. Alvin Wheatman was preceded in death by his parents; Almer and Emma Wheatman, and his wife's parents, Ingar and Clara Hilberg.
