Creston News-Advertiser Creston, Iowa MOUNT AYR, IA - Clifford Webster, 63, of Mount Ayr died Saturday morning, May 28, 1988, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Wilson-Watson Funeral Home in Mount Ayr. The Rev. Doris Kinton will officiate with burial in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. today. A memorial has been established to the First Christian Church in Mount Ayr and Shriners Hospital. Mr. Webster was born Oct. 21, 1924, in Decatur County to Floyd and Minnie (Evans) Webster. He previously lived in Tempe, Ariz., before moving to Ringgold County in 1983. He married Elizabeth Rush Sept. 8, 1947. He was a retired mechanic and body worker and a veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth of Mount Ayr; and a sister, Gwendolyn (Mrs. Dean) Ivins of Hedrick. ******************************* Mount Ayr Record-News Mount Ayr, Iowa Clifford Lyle Webster was born October 21, 1924 in Decatur County, Iowa, to Floyd Earl and Minnie Ellen (Evans) Webster and passed away at Mercy Hospital Medical Center, Des Moines, Iowa, May 28, 1988. On Sept. 8, 1947, he was married to Elizabeth "Bette" Rusk in the home of her parents in Mount Ayr, Iowa. In 1949 they moved to Cheyenne, Wyo. and later to Casper, Wyo. where he worked as a General Motors mechanic. For health reasons, they moved to Arizona in 1960, remaining there until retirement and returning to Iowa in 1984. He served in the army during World War II in the China, Burma, India region, later being called back for the Korean conflict. He was a member of Cheyenne Lodge AM & AF #1 in Cheyenne, WYO. and American Legion Post #172 in Mount Ayr. His parents preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Bette, and one sister, Gwendolyn J. Ivins and her husband, Dean, of Hedrick, Iowa, plus many relatives and friends. Funeral services were held June 1, 1988, from the Wilson-Watson Funeral Home in Mount Ayr, Iowa, conducted by Pastor Doris Kinton. Music was provided by Mike Greene, Mrs. Jim Jones and Mrs. Robert Fisher. Casketbearers were Dan Sheil, Roy Smith, Bill Evans, Larry Evans, Jim Burdette and Keith Sackett. Honorary pallbearers were Bill Teale and Bill Webster. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Mount Ayr, Iowa. Military graveside rites were conducted by Ringgold Post #172, American Legion.
