Former Resident Dies In Arizona Word was received by friends here of the death of Miss Rene Waites at Los Angeles. Miss Waite died after a lingering illness on January 12, with burial there Monday. Miss Waite resided in Hawarden as a young woman when she worked in a drug store and in a hardware store here. She went to Cedar Rapids in 1910 and became a secretary to two staff members of the Merchant National bank, which position she held until four years ago, when she and her sisters, Mrs. Eleanor Wagner, moved to Los Angeles to make their home. Miss Waites, who never married was a sister of Harry "Dinty" Waites, who at one time had a men's apparel shop in Hawarden. Hawarden Independent - Iowa January 25, 1962
