Philip C. Hernandez, 77, of Flagstaff, died Jan. 5, 2011, following a brief illness. He was born July 3, 1933, in Flagstaff.
He attended South Beaver Elementary School, Flagstaff Junior High School and Flagstaff High School. He spent a total of 27 years in the U.S. Army and U.S. National Guard Reserve. He worked in the construction field as a heavy equipment operator and was a member of the Teamsters Union.
Mr. Hernandez is survived by his children, Patrick (Sharelyn) Hernandez of Cottonwood, Eileen Hernandez of Tucson, Elaine (Emmett) Ullibarri of Glendale, Lloyd (Dorothy) Hernandez of Belmont, Phyllis Cancino of Tre Monton, Utah, and Ena (Tim) Valdez of Flagstaff; brother Johnny of Las Vegas; ex-spouse Patsy Hernandez of Flagstaff; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Felipe and Winifred (Castillo) Hernandez; and sisters Martha Macias and Lila Lozano.
There will be a private service at a later date.
