The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ November 6, 2009 Gladys Seemann, 93, was called home Oct. 29, 2009, from The Carriage House in Snowflake, where she had resided since May 24, 2009. She began her journey in Ada, Okla., Jan. 2, 1916, one of eight children born to Austin and Laura Emmons. She moved with her family to Mountainair, N.M., when she was 6, and her family homesteaded 160 acres near Mountainair. She married Carrol T. Goar at the age of 16. They had two children, Joyce Marie and Marvin (Buckshot) Goar. She later married Charles H. Seemann in 1954, and they moved to Spokane, Wash. They lived in both Washington and Idaho until 1960 when they moved to Lakeside and purchased property at Wagon Wheel Park. During their many years in Lakeside, their yard was decorated with many flowers, trees, lawn and yard decorations. She was a great cook and also very prolific at crocheting and other crafts. In her later years, she became a familiar figure to all her neighbors and passersby while working in her yard with a rake, broom, shovel, and garden hose. She loved all her neighbors and always had kind words for everybody she had contact with. She is survived by three sisters, Leta Jo Manino of Folsom, Calif., Jean Thomas of Ventura, Calif., and Nita Plant of Albuquerque, N. M.; son Buckshot Goar of Pinetop; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Her beloved husband Charlie passed away in 1991, and she lost her daughter, Joyce, in 1998. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. at the Wagon Wheel Park club house Sunday, Nov. 8, for family and friends to remember and celebrate the life of a "little remarkable well-loved lady." Arrangements were handled by Silver Creek Mortuary in Taylor.
