Jon Erwin Neff Fisher, CPA, 70, died of cancer surrounded by his family Saturday, July 25, 2009, as the sun came over the Mountain at his home in Linden.
He was born on Saint Patrick's Day 1939 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Mildred and Erwin Fisher. He attended San Dieguito High School, in Southern California, where he met Diana. He graduated in 1957 and attended San Diego State University. They were married Friday the 13th in 1958 after she graduated.
He transferred to Brigham Young University where he graduated in 1963 in accounting and math. He began his career life teaching high school in Orem, Utah. He obtained his CPA certificate in Southern California, obtaining his master's degree years later in Yuma.
He worked as a certified public accountant and a high school math teacher throughout his life, eventually starting and owning a classy restaurant in Yuma that he named Nature's Deli, running it for over a decade.
Jon E. was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many capacities within the church throughout his life. He loved music and sang in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir for 13 years.
He also liked to learn and study many things including the Scriptures and world affairs. He loved the United States and was very patriotic.
He is survived by his wife Diana; daughter Cynthia and husband Bob Jones of Salt Lake City; sons Craig Fisher, Douglas Fisher, Phillip and wife Denise Fisher all of Yuma: six grandchildren; three brothers, Scott Fisher of Salt Lake City, Barrie Fisher of Encinitas, Calif., and Rob Fisher of Calgary, Canada; and a host of family and friends.
He was reunited with his parents; eldest son Ronnie; and grandson Gabriel.
Funeral services will commence with the viewing at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 29, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 1401 E. Deuce of Clubs in Show Low.
Funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Show Low Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Black's Mortuary of Show Low.
