Russell H. Burdick Sr. died Aug. 3, 2009, in Flagstaff.
He was born in Georgetown, Idaho, Jan. 31, 1926, but soon after his parents moved to Gridley, Calif., where he lived until he enlisted for two years in the Navy (1944-1946.)
Russell spent most of the remainder of his life as a resident of St. Johns and as a builder. Russell was married to Nathel Brown Burdick for 40 years. They were the parents of 10 children. She preceded him in death.
Russell was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities during his lifetime.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Margaret Fulton Burdick; sons Russell Burdick Jr. of Flagstaff, Quinn Burdick of Linden, Robert Burdick of Hurricane, Utah, Brian Burdick of St. Johns and Martin Burdick of Glen Ellyn, Ill.; daughters Maren McCormick of Ketchikan, Alaska, Ann Perry of Richland, Wash., Jeanine Legler of Mesa, Lynette Mulleneaux of Thatcher and Irene James of Adams, Ore.; his 101-year-old father, Howard Burdick of Yuba City, Calif.; sisters Sharon Myers and Nellie Taylor of Yuba City and Irene McVey of Cody, Wyo.; brother David Burdick of Clovis, Calif.; 45 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his mother, Lareta Smith Burdick, and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held Saturday, Aug. 8, in the LDS Stake Center in St. Johns.
Burnham Mortuary of St. Johns handled arrangements.
