Alfred "Al" Kwiatkowski, Ph.D., died Aug. 20, 2009, at Hospice Compassus in Lakeside.
He was born in Hammond, Ind., Feb. 21, 1928, the son of Walter and Felixa Kwiatkowski, the youngest of eight siblings, all of whom have preceded him in death.
Al is survived by his wife, Lynda, and four children, Steven, Pam, Craig and Gail, and their families. He served in the Marines in 1946-48 and was called back in 1950 to serve in the Korean War.
He attended Purdue University and University of Arizona and graduated with a Ph.D. from Arizona State University in 1972.
Al was a member of Who's Who in American Universities, Blue Key and Phi Delta Kappa. He retired from the Scottsdale School District where he taught and was a principal for 29 years.
Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 24, at Valley View Southern Baptist Church, 1212 W. Main St., in Snowflake.
Interment will be held Tuesday, Aug. 25, at 10 a.m. at East Lawn Palms Cemetery, 5801 E. Grant Rd., in Tucson.
