CHALLIS, Verlie Alvah (Peck)

The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ July 9, 2009 Verlie Alvah "Peck" Challis, 93, died June 7, 12009, in Snowflake. He was born Aug. 5, 1915, in Stecker, Okla. Peck loved children, especially his grandchildren. He was an honest businessman who lived by the Golden Rule. He was kind and generous. Peck loved to fish and hunt quail. He is survived by two sons, Rick and Ron Challis; three grandchildren, Veta (Larry) Pedersen, Jay (Jenifer) Cook and Rob Challis; nine great-grandchildren, Cody, Logan, Kaelee, Lane, Colton, Jensen, Josh, Christina and Breanna. He was preceded in death by wife LaVeta and daughter Renee Cook. Memorial services were held Thursday, June 11, at the Owens Livingston Mortuary-White Mountain Chapel in Show Low. Owens Livingston Mortuary of Show Low handled arrangements.
