Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, Arizona February 9, 1989, page 2-A Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. today (Thursday) at the Good Shepherd of the Desert Catholic Church in Congress for James W. Borders, 63, who died Feb. 4 in the VA Hospital in Phoenix. Fr. O’Donnell with officiate, with burial following in the Congress Cemetery. Mr. Borders was born Feb. 28, 1925 in Harrisburg, Ill. He had lived in Arizona for the past six years. He was raised in Alton Ill., and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. Borders was a retired supervisor from Rohr Aircraft and Bell Helicopter. He was post commander of the Congress/Wickenburg VFW, and was a service officer. He was an honorary member of the Congress Volunteer Fire Department, past vice president of the Congress Water Co., and was in charge of the Congress Cemetery. He was a third year trustee of the Ninth District, VFW. He initiated the VFW Post, assuming control of Tenderfoot Hill Park. Survivors include his wife, Leah, of Congress; five daughter, Dolores Herndon, Sue Merricone, Janice Kyle, Ellen Swick and April Coffey; five sons James Borders, Gary Borders, James Roe, and Paul Roe; 20 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
