LOUGHRAN, Michael H. (Coach)


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ July 20, 2009 Michael H. "Coach" Loughran, 77, died peacefully July 16, 2009. He was born April 13, 1932, to Mary and Edward Loughran in Miami. Mike graduated from Globe High School in 1950 and was awarded a basketball scholarship to ASU where he graduated in 1954 with a master's degree in education. Mike joined the U.S. Air Force in 1956 where he served three years. Upon leaving the USAF, he started his 32-year coaching career at Camelback High School where his teams earned numerous track and field state championships. Mike enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending his time in his "fourth-quarter retreat on the Mountain." He was preceded three brothers John, Patrick and Edward and sister Sheila, who are with the Lord. He is survived by his brother Kevin, daughter Michele Jensen, son Michael Loughran Jr. and grandchildren Haley and Christian Jensen. Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 27, at the Holy Angels Catholic Church, 201 S. Broad St., in Globe with a memorial service to follow.
