HORST, Zelda LaVerne

Mohave Daily News, Mohave Vally, Arizona - Published in Mohave Daily News Online from January 9 to January 16, 2011 - Our hearts were saddened on Thursday, December 23, 2010, at 3:11 p.m. in Scottsdale, Ariz., when Zelda LaVerne Horst, age 80, joined her beloved husband, Ernest, in eternal sleep. Our dear loved one put up quite a battle, and touched all of our hearts, before finding her final resting place. LaVerne was born August 29, 1930, in Arkansas. In 1958, she met and married the love of her life in Bellflower, Calif. and they were married for 37 years. LaVerne was a strong community supporter of her home town, Willow Valley, Ariz., since 1980. She was a member of the Elks Lodge of Bullhead City, Ariz., and the Moose Lodge of both Bullhead City and Kingman, Ariz., a volunteer of WARMC, and a member of the Red Hatters. She will also be missed in the Saint Ann's Catholic Church of Needles, Calif. We were so blessed to have hearts full of memories of fishing, camping and the countless RV trips. We who are left on this earth without LaVerne, will miss her amazing smile, tender touch and boisterous laugh. LaVerne is survived by her two sons, Ernie (Denise) and Michael (Sher); three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. There will be a closed memorial service for loved ones to be announced.
